Driving 5 hours each way makes it hard to come home very often. Not that I ever did before (not worth the gas money even when it was only 3 hours), but being without a DVD player for the past 2.5 weeks has admittedly been a very hard experience for me to endure. It's truly horrible to have four seasons of Psych (still waiting for the fifth one to get cheap on amazon...) sitting on my shelf and calling my name.
Now I'm all rehabilitated from three days of freedom and ready to dive headfirst once again into the process of college education. I must say, I'm really enjoying my literature classes so far (although I do have a hard time with my Western Lit professor referring to the Bible as "mythology"). Even though I know that creative writing is a hugely popular field to go into, it still boggles my mind that there are so many other people here who love reading and writing as much as I do. We're certainly a goofy bunch (our classes involve everything from Plato and Aristotle to ewoks and leprechauns), but I've finally found the kind of goofy that I can relate to. I really do feel like I'm home around these people.
Yes, I confess that my main reason for coming home this weekend was to steal our little portable DVD player (and plenty of canned food from the basement). But I ended up being able to have a very therapeutic girl's night with two of my best friends from home (one who is newly engaged and therefore hard to get quality time with), and many photographic images resulted (all are stolen from Facebook, so the quality may not be as good as others):
Showing off my new school pride
Candace, Ariel, and me. We make fun of James (Air's fiance) because we've never seen him with a serious face--whenever he claims he's mad, he still has a huge grin on his face. These are our imitations of a "James angry face"
There were mints on the table.
My dear Candace
Things got strange(r) as the hours passed...
Candace was supposed to be a bunny too. Symmetry FAIL
The Cousin It family reunion (my hair was too short to participate, thankfully)
Ha ha.
Profile picture idea!
The end.
Hey, some amazing photography on this blog - just thought you should know (= Oh and by the way, you look like a girl that used to be my pen pal a few years ago, you only got a different name. Kinda funny.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elina! Most of the pictures were taken with my cell phone camera...luckily they're small enough on here that you can't tell how terrible the resolution is :)
